2nde Drama option
A one year course taken as an optional subject in 2nde
Contrary to popular belief, Drama studies are not all about ‘making up little plays!!’ Students are continuously assessed during practical work on their ability to respond to dramatic texts, to develop, explore and sustain a range of dramatic forms, on their ability to work with others and independently and on their performance skills.
The course has three sections;
Unit One – working with dramatic stimuli
Unit Two – working with text
Unit Three – drama performance.
Work on these Units in 2009 - 2010 will correspond approximately to school terms.
Unit One – ‘My Last Duchess’ by Robert Browning
‘The Remains of the Day’ by Kasuo Ishiguro
Students will explore the notion of being ‘trapped’ either physically or emotionally, and will examine a range of dramatic forms.
Unit Two – ‘Blood Brothers’ by Willie Russell
Students will work on and off text, whilst studying a complete and substantial play. They will explore dramatic media and strategies through personal response and performance.
Unit Three – Devised, examined group performance, before a live audience in May 2010.
